Coach Knows

Set:

One of the sports where it is easiest to determine the winner is track and field athletics. In fact, everything is very simple - you run, and a stopwatch measures your speed. You jump and a ruler measures the length of your attempt. The human factor is minimally involved. God once gave me the opportunity to long jump. During practices, the coach pointed out that my left leg was strong and jumpy, but since I am right-handed, I wanted to do it my way. The coach had a lot of humility, so he watched. When the next competition was held, I tried what the coach had suggested and changed the pushing leg from my right leg to my left, and my result was better than usual. I remember the coach's gentle smile when he learned about the results.

A wonderful analogy: knowing your coach and remembering his instructions. We see this in the life of Nehemiah. When he heard that Jerusalem was destroyed and his people were living in trouble, he was not indifferent. He prays, fasts and mourned before the Lord. In his prayer, he relies on the promises that God Himself said to Moses. He does not just remember but builds his beliefs on how God acted in the past, who God is, and what He promised. Nehemiah humbles his heart, confesses his own sins and the sins of the entire nation. He intercedes before God and recognizes the primacy of God in his life.

As an athlete, we can often fail to fulfill our tasks both in training and in competition. However, as our perfect Head Coach - God hears and sees perfectly and comes to meet us.
