Ready:
“LORD, there is no one like you, and there is no God besides you, as all we have heard confirms.” — 1 Chronicles 17:20
Set:
Have you ever said, “God, when I get this money, I’ll give more”; “When I get a bigger platform, I’ll speak more”; “If You put me in position, I’ll glorify You more”? And then—God comes through… but you don’t.
It’s easy to make promises in anticipation, but how often do we pause with sincere gratitude when we arrive? How often do we take the calm, humble posture of thanksgiving—not for what we expect, but for what God has already done?
Gratitude should be our first response. For the God who chose us, equipped us, and launched us. For the One who deserves more than our words—He deserves our praise. King David modeled this beautifully in 2 Samuel 7:18–24 where he pours out his heart. David recognized that every blessing, every promise, every victory—was God’s doing. And he responded, not with entitlement, but with awe.
When was the last time you cried out—not just for what you want, but for who God is? When did you last praise Him for His character, not just His provision? Today, take a moment. Pause. Praise. And say, “God, thank You—for being You.”
Go:
Is praise your default? If not, how can praise become your default?
What can we learn from David’s prayer in 2 Samuel 7?
What can you begin to do today as you reflect on all the ways God has blessed and kept you?
Workout:
2 Chronicles 17:16–27
1 Kings 8:12–21
Overtime:
“Father, You alone are worthy of all praise. Forgive us for the times we’ve rushed past Your blessings without stopping to thank You. Teach us to live with hearts full of gratitude—not just for what You give, but for who You are. Help us to praise You in every season, to honor You with our words and actions and to never take Your goodness for granted. Today, we pause to say: Thank You, Lord, for being faithful, for being holy and for being You. Amen.”
