We have the perfect support and care in the Father and the Son.

Ready:

“He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.”Psalm 147:3

Set:

Have you ever thought of how similar God is to an athletic trainer? He is present for both the games and practices, on the sideline with His eye on us. He’s watching the game out of joy of course, but also because He’s invested. He loves you. He’s also watching for your protection. He sees how you go down after a rough play. He watches the way your leg or arm twists in the moment. He knows how to get it back into place. He has a gym bag full of tools to help in your time of need, and He knows exactly how to use them. He is the most seasoned “trainer” there ever has been and ever will be. He’s always at the school; His office is always open. He’s our “refuge and strength, a helper who is always found in times of trouble” (Psalm 46:1).

Maybe we’ve experienced an athletic trainer that didn’t really want to be at the game or maybe their mind was elsewhere. Maybe you’ve had an experience where you walk into the office, and you immediately hear a huff or a word under their breath. That is not the character of the God who loves us.

God is approachable (see Hebrews 4:15-16). His throne of grace is open because of what Jesus did for us on the cross. He came down from His glory in heaven to become a human as we are, that He might die as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of mankind. In becoming human, He is able to sympathize with our weaknesses because He went through the same things we do. The difference between us and Him is that when we are weak, we sin. When He was weak, He leaned into the Father and was perfect.

God’s office is open to us, and we can approach Him because of what Christ did on the cross. So, when we go into His office and we tell Him about our injuries or our struggles, Jesus is there too, able to help describe what is going on and what we need because He’s been in our shoes. He knows.

Go:

  1. What specific event, season, or relationship has caused the deepest crack in your heart?

  2. How can you invite God to heal the broken pieces?

Workout:

마태복음 11:28-30

Overtime:

“Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your character. Thank You for being the God of the Universe, our Creator, the lover of our souls. Thank You for sending Jesus that we might be made whole again in fellowship with You. I give over the deepest cracks in my heart along with my supply of superglue. I need your healing, Father. Do what only You can do in my life and heart. Amen.”
