Romans 12:1

Think about some of the things you sacrifice for your life in sport. Consider the hours you spend at practice, the miles you have put into training, the blood, sweat and tears you have invested. As athletes, we are taught individual sacrifice all for the love of the game.

Sacrifice is an act of giving up something valued for the sake of something more worthy.  We see the ultimate sacrifice when Jesus faced death at the cross for our sins. In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus considers us and His glory to be of greater value than what He had to suffer. That’s how to live a life surrendered and obedient to Christ; it’s worth more than everything we possess.
