Ready:

“For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord grants favor and honor; he does not withhold the good from those who live with integrity. Happy is the person who trusts in you, LORD of Armies.”Psalm 84:11-12

Set:

One of the most famous sports talks was given by Jimmy Valvano, who received the ESPN ESPY award in 1993 while battling cancer. His speech was titled, “Don’t Ever Give Up” and in it he mentions three things to think about. “...I always have to think about what’s important in life to me are these three things. Where you started, where you are and where you’re going to be.”

A great thing to know is that God does this for us. He’s not just around and watching how we live our lives. He is directly involved and engaged with us. He is around us so that we can see where we are, where we are going and where we will end up. There is a lot of evil and wrong that comes against us. He is right here to protect and shield us. He is the best Father and He gives us good things.

Jimmy V’s last sentence of his speech was, “I know, I gotta go, I gotta go; and I got one last thing, and I said it before, and I’m gonna say it again. Cancer can take away all my physical abilities. It cannot touch my mind, it cannot touch my heart and it cannot touch my soul. And those three things are going to carry on forever”. This statement is built directly on the truth and reality of God. The Apostle Paul said it too, “For me to live – Christ. To die is gain”. He went to imply that if he continued to live, it would be for others, for their benefit and their good.

So, don’t ever give up, the God of the universe is right here with you, and He will guide you and help you.

Go:

  1. Have you ever felt like stopping and quitting? Is it easy or hard for you to keep going when things are hard?

  2. Who do you go to to find help when you need it?

Workout:

Psalm 27:4
Romans 12:10

Overtime:

"Father, You are the Maker of heaven and earth. There is nothing too hard for You. I seek You and I need You every day. Give me strength and courage to keep moving, to never stop and give up. Thank you for being with me each day. I trust in You. In Jesus name I pray. Amen."
