Ready:
"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." —Efésios 2:10
Set:
Every team has more than one uniform. There are home jerseys, away jerseys, practice shirts and warm-ups. The colors change with each game, but one thing never changes — the name on the back. No coach expects an athlete to become a different player because the uniform changes. Different field. Different crowd. Same identity.
Life isn't always that simple. School, sports, friends, social media—even church—can quietly pressure us to become someone different depending on who's watching. So, which is the real you?
Culture tells us to blend in with our audience. Jesus offers something far better. He doesn't ask us to invent an identity. He invites us to discover the one God has already begun forming within us.
Paul reminds us, "For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works..." Identity answers one question: "Who am I?" It's more than personality or reputation. God determined who you are well before anyone else tried to shape you. You are His workmanship, created with purpose. Identity is discovered in relationship before it is expressed in behavior.
Your relationship with Jesus gives you the confidence to become the person God created. That assurance frees you from inventing new identities to match every audience. Different situations require different wisdom — they never require a different identity.
When life tempts you to fit in, remember who you already are in Christ. The more secure you become in His love and purpose for your life, the less pressure you'll feel to perform for acceptance. Instead of asking, 'Who do I need to be so they'll accept me?' Ask, 'How can I faithfully express the person God is shaping me to become?' The audience may change — your identity doesn't.
Go:
When have you felt pressure to become someone different just to fit in?
What more assurance do you need to accept God’s identity as your true value?”
Which part of your life tempts you most to negotiate your identity?

Overtime:
“My God and my Coach, let me walk with integrity and confidence in You. Holy Spirit, help me recognize the person God is shaping me to become. Assure me when I lose confidence in the identity You gave me. Amen.”
