Ready:  

"I thought about my ways and turned my steps back to your decrees. I hurried, not hesitating to keep your commands.” - Psalm 119:59-60  

Set:  

In most sports, decisions are made in mere seconds. Am I going to swing at this pitch or not? Pass the ball to this player or the other? Run this play or another. Any hesitation in these matters could lose you any advantage you had over your opponent. You might have heard your coach talk about committing to your decision and pursuing it with 100% effort. Most coaches will be more mad that you didn’t commit to the decision rather than you making the wrong one. My husband is an example of this kind of coach. In golf, there are countless ways to play each shot. After a shot was made, no matter the outcome, he asks his players, “Did you commit to it?”. If they answer yes, he reminds them, “That’s all that matters.”   

We will mess up in our sport and life. God knows this and even expects us to mess up, so He gives us the instructions for repentance. What we can control is choosing to be all in with serving God and keeping His commandments. If we sit and hesitate to follow God’s word, we leave ourselves open to being attacked by the enemy. This hesitation leaves a crack where Satan can plant doubts and turn our eyes away from God. If we hurry to keep God’s commands, we commit all we have to Him and leave nothing behind.   

So, choose to be all in for Jesus in a world where indecisiveness rules the minds of our peers. We can choose a life of decisive victory in Christ by looking towards Him and following His commands with haste.
