In sports we frequently mention “love of the game” or “love of the sport” but less often do we mention love for team, a coach, a player, a referee or even love for parents.
Just like practicing fundamentals over and over, you need to practice over and over the right words and actions that show faithful love to others. There are a few ways you can demonstrate love toward your teammates and coaches. You can show them the same respect you wish to be shown to you. You can watch your words and tone. You can express gratitude for the time and effort being put in.
Over 127 times in the Psalms the phrase “love and faithfulness of the Lord” is stated. It must be quite important to be mentioned that many times! This love and faithfulness come first and directly from God. He never stops loving us and he is never unfaithful. Faithful love and truth meet together. They join together.
God loves us in such a profound way that He sent His Son, Jesus who gave up His life for us. He died to pay the penalty for our sins. (Sins are anything that separate us from God.) He rose on the third day proving His power and victory over sin, death and hell. He demonstrates His faithful love through His forgiveness and His restoration of us, which enables us to love. It is through God’s faithful love that we can develop, grow, mature and be strong in our daily lives. God proves His love by His faithfulness to us.
May it be true of you that love and faithfulness are like a necklace that you wear, show and do for the good of others. God will help you each step of each day.
