  1. How important is trust to your success in athletics?

  2. What are some ways you can show trust to those on your team and your coaching staff?

  3. Read Psalm 20:7-8. What are the "chariots" and "horses" that some are trusting in today? As David prepared for battle, who was he trusting in for victory? What was the result of those who trusted in "chariots" and "horses" versus those who trusted in the Lord? (v. 8)

  4. When you compete, who or what are you trusting in for victory?

  1. What are some harmful effects of boasting in our athletic or coaching abilities?

  2. Read 路加福音 18:9-14. What is the difference between the two men who came to God in prayer? What did Jesus say would happen when we boast in ourselves?

  3. We all have had humbling moments during competition. Describe a time when God had to humble you. What happened?

  4. What does God say about boasting in 耶利米书 9:23-24?

  5. What do you think Paul means when he says "But as for me, I will never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ" (Galatians 6:14a)?

  2. How would you describe God's power? How does Paul describe God's power in 哥林多后书 4:7?

  3. How can God's power help you as a competitor? (See 以赛亚书 40:28-31 for help)

I compete for the pleasure of my Heavenly Father, the honor of Christ, and the reputation of the Holy Spirit.

  1. As Christian Competitors we have to remember that our #1 goal in competing is to please our Heavenly Father, as Paul states in 哥林多后书 5:9. This brings honor to Christ and upholds the reputation of the Holy Spirit.

  2. How does Paul pray for the Colossians to please God in 歌罗西书 1:10?

  3. How can you please God when you compete?

Live It Out

  1. Boasting in our own abilities steals the glory that God deserves in our lives and is not pleasing to Him. When you compete, are you stealing God's glory or are you revealing it?

  2. Are there any changes that need to be made in you to reveal more of God's glory?
