Proven: Coach Training Time

Day 4

Commit to Sow Seeds

Tracks

November 14, 2025

Challenges come with coaching. Commit to the law of the harvest.

READY

“Don’t be deceived: God is not mocked. For whatever a person sows he will also reap, because the one who sows to his flesh will reap destruction from the flesh, but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit. Let us not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don’t give up.” - Galatians 6:7-9

SET

As a coach you have lots of challenges you face every day- balancing time between home and your sport, criticism from parents and the community, a scoreboard that become your identity very quickly if you let it, not sure you’re making a difference. You also have a lot of commitments. Meetings, team issues, family, game plans all take your time and sap your strength.

Why did God first plant the seeds of coaching in your heart? Why did you commit to coaching in the first place?

Remember the law of the harvest:

  1. You reap what you sow. If you plant corn, corn is what will grow. What are you planting in your life? Your team? No one drifts to greatness. Be intentional and commit in what you’re planting into your life and your team.

  2. You reap later than you sow. We want fast results. Did you know when a bamboo seed is planted nothing sprouts from the ground for five years. At the end of the fifth year the first shoot emerges and grows almost two feet a day for the next six weeks. The reason bamboo plants can grow so tall is in the first five years, when you don’t see growth, it was establishing a root system to support later growth. Stay committed!

  3. You reap more than you sow. As a coach you have a unique opportunity to impact generations. In fact, you will impact many… HOW you impact them will be up to you. As a Christian coach, you can impact the trajectory of many for eternity. Commit to impacting your athletes for eternity – even when it is hard.

The commitment to coaching comes with challenges just like the commitment to following Jesus comes with challenges.  As Paul instructs the Galatians, sowing in the Spirit reaps eternal life. There is no greater commitment than that, no matter the challenges. So sow seeds broadly and don’t give up.

GO

  1. What are the biggest coaching challenges you are facing today? Have you brought it to God?

  2. Why did God first call you into coaching? Have you drifted?

  3. Is there an area of your life or coaching where you aren’t seeing the results you’ve hoped for? What’s the hardest part about being patient with God for the results?
