Purpose is a driving force that gets you out of bed each morning and makes you want to be better or achieve something. It is “the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.” If you don’t know the purpose or “why” you do something, it will never get done or completed to its highest potential.
When you know your purpose, you can be most effective at whatever you do. Knowing that you serve a higher purpose empowers you to strive to be the best you can. As athletes, the purpose is easy because the outcome is on the scoreboard. It is easy for that to be our only purpose. But, 1 Peter 2:9 says, “You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light." We are God’s chosen people, called to proclaim His love to everyone we come in contact within all situations.
