Jesus will fulfill His promise to return once again, and as a follower of Him, you will see Him face-to-face. How does your life reflect this truth? Following Jesus is more than a set of principles. It requires a reorientation of your lifestyle. In a culture dominated by accumulating wealth and possessions, what does it look like to honor Jesus with your money? What do your finances reveal about your focus on the Greater Promise?
In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus explained what life looks like in the Kingdom of God. When it comes to money, He’s straightforward: “Don’t store up for yourselves treasures on earth where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven ...For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:19–21). Your investments reflect your affections.
Every good and perfect gift is from God (James 1:17). He provides your finances, and you are called to steward them. Even though your time on Earth is temporary, and you can’t take any cash with you to Heaven, you can invest in it. With a heart set on Heaven, what should your finances look like?
God’s work throughout the Earth often depends upon resources to fund the advancement of the Gospel. He’s provided you and your spouse with some of those resources. How might He be stirring you to invest in His Kingdom?
