Solomon doesn’t pull punches—trusting God is tough but His Game Plan is perfect.

Ready:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; in all your ways know him, and he will make your paths straight.”  - Proverbs 3:5-6

Set:

Two-time Paralympic gold medalist Morgan Stickney endured 22 surgeries, four major amputations, and countless hospital stays. Despite circumstances that could have shattered Olympic dreams, she trusted God’s path, doubled-down on her goals, and won gold at the 2021 Tokyo Paralympics. Why? Morgan leaned into her faith. She acknowledged God’s hand in her pain. She made His wisdom part of her process. Closing the door to anxiety, she stepped into uncertainty. Her graduation from Biola University and Paralympic victories testify to faith over fear.

Her story mirrors the courage of Esther. Faced with the destruction of her people, Esther chose to trust God’s timing and speak up—risking everything “for such a time as this” (Esther 4:14). Like Morgan, Esther recognized God’s hand and stepped into the unknown. Proverbs 3:5–6 captures this same spirit—We see God’s hand.  We step “all-in” with our emotions, mind, and will.  We rely on God’s wisdom. We trust that when He guides, He provides.

Solomon doesn’t pull punches—trusting God is tough. Just ask Morgan Stickney and Esther. Each walked through white-knuckle trials with a grip on faith and a heart set on obedience.

God’s promises follow three commands:

  1. Trust Him: “He is God. I am not.”

  2. Rely on Him: That takes grit. Grit says, “Even if I can’t see the whole play, I’ll run it anyway. Shortcuts backfire.”

  3. Know Him: Practice hearing and following His voice every day—in drills, scrimmages, and under game-day pressure.

As we do, we see God’s promises fulfilled. He directs our offense. He strengthens our defense. He clears the obstacles. He leads the way.

Here’s Solomon’s Proverbs 3 Game Plan:

Trust Him: “I’ll run the play—I believe in the coach and trust His game plan.”  Rely on Him: “I’ll run the play—I won’t bail when obstacles arise.”  Know Him: “I’ll run the play—even when the path isn’t clear.”  Watch Him Work: “As I run the play—He will clear my path.”

Go:

  1. Which part of your “heart” (feelings, mind, or will) is the biggest obstacle to trusting?

  2. What’s your first instinct when God’s path seems unclear? Wait? Take control? Pray?

  3. Where do you need God to “make your path straight” right now?

 Workout:

Esther 4:14
Jeremiah 29:11

Overtime:

Abba Father.  Let me get better at trusting You, relying on You, and letting You lead me.  I am Your child.  Lead me in Your path. Let me rejoice in Your promises. In Jesus' name, amen.
