To pursue excellence means to honor and glorify God in everything you do.
In Colossians 3:23-24, Paul writes, “Whatever you do, do it from the heart, as something done for the Lord and not for people…” The “whatever” part is hard because it means that everything you do must be done for God, not others. You need to pursue excellence in practice, in games, in schoolwork, and in training. God deserves your best, not your leftovers. "So, whatever you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God." (1 Corinthians 10:31).
