Ready:
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead and into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you.” —1 Peter 1:3-4
Set:
Imagine one of your family members left you an invaluable inheritance: season tickets to your favorite sport team for life. Incredible seats, meet and greet with the players, unlimited merch, the whole package FOR LIFE. Your life is changed because you receive such an outstanding gift.
If I was given an inheritance like that, I’d spend my life honoring that person through the gift. I’d think of them as I dress up for gamedays and take pictures. I’d live the day with him or her in mind. I’d invite people to come with me to the games each time: family, friends, people in my life that I love. I might even share with strangers because season tickets for life are so vast, there’s no way I can keep it to myself. On the way to the games, I would tell stories of the loved one who gave such an incredible gift to me. I’d want my guests to know the person who provided such a wonderful thing for them.
God has left us something far more incredible as an inheritance: an imperishable, undefiled and unfading inheritance kept in heaven for us. This full package was bought for us with great price and sacrifice to Him. It includes salvation from our sins and the death and separation we most certainly deserve, a home with the Father in heaven forever, a new heavenly body and eventual sinless heart, and the Holy Spirit to lead us and sanctify us in our lives on earth. No season tickets could compete with such a gift.

What are you doing with your God-given inheritance? Does it change the way you live your life right now?
How will you allow this kind of love to transform your life and change your ways?

Overtime:
“Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me the way You do. Thank You for storing up for me Your absolute best. Thank You for changing my life both now and for eternity. I want to live in honor of You and all You have done for me. I love You.”
