“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility consider others as more important than yourselves. Everyone should look not to his own interests, but rather to the interests of others." - Philippians 2:3-4

Prior to departing for Super Bowl 53, L.A. Rams wide receiver Brandin Cooks found the team janitor, Alfonso Garcia. Alfonso had no idea why Brandin wanted to speak to him; but he soon discovered that Brandin wanted to give him and his son two tickets to fly to Atlanta to attend the Super Bowl. Everything was covered. Why did he do this?
Brandin recognized the good work done by another person. The Rams theme was, “We Not Me.” It is a reminder that success is a team effort – everyone has value and a purpose. Brandin told Garcia: “You’re part of this team, too.”
Paul said that each of us needs to choose daily to be selfless versus being selfish. “Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.” You may never be an all-star, pro athlete or even an MVP, but you can treat others like they are an MVP. When we show love to others, when we become selfless, we reflect the life and love of Jesus Christ to everyone.

Heavenly Father, thank You for showing Your love towards me. Help me to love others. Give me the eyes to see those who need Your love. Help me to be selfless! In Jesus' name, amen.
