Of all the dangers you and your team face, identity might be the most problematic. Many teams spend the entire season searching for the right chemistry to make it all click. The same is true for individuals. Every day you are bombarded by messages telling you who you should be, how to act, what to think, and what you should wear.
What does this mean for us? While we might not be able to know ourselves, God does. As children of God, we can go straight to the absolute Truth: God’s Word. Scripture tells about our identity in Christ, like we are God’s masterpieces created with specific purposes (Ephesians 2:10); we are God’s friends (John 15:15); we are free from the power of sin and death (Romans 8:1-2); we’re complete when we have Jesus (Colossians 2:10); and we are loved by Him (1 John 3:1).
This is our true identity—the one that won’t change. This is the “true you” as laid out by the One who made you.
