Ready:
“If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.” —Galatians 5:25
Set:
When I was eleven years old, my dad decided our family would hike the ten-mile trail from Lewis Lake to Shoshone Lake in Yellowstone National Park. My dad took the lead and the family followed. The path wound through thick forest beside a rushing river. We knew bears lived nearby. Every turn revealed unfamiliar terrain. Two lessons became obvious that day: Stay close. Be ready.
Like wilderness trails, life continually drains our strength. We don't wait until we're exhausted to refresh ourselves.
God's rhythm of rest isn't about escaping life—it's about staying close and being ready. Jesus called this “abiding”. Paul called it “keeping in step with the Spirit”. Both describe living connected to Jesus. As we walk with Him, the Holy Spirit reshapes our desires, renews our hope and prepares us to step forward faithfully. God's rhythm of rest is NOT about “taking a day off”. It's about practicing trust. Every time we return to Him, we're reminded that He is in control. The Holy Spirit trains our faith to overcome anxiety, discouragement and unbelief. We learn to walk confidently with Christ rather than fearing situations.
Think about your phone. A "No Service" message reminds you that connection is critical. God designed your relationship with Him the same way. The Holy Spirit lives within every believer, continuously leading, encouraging, correcting and strengthening us. Connecting with Him in rest and walking with Him through the grind of life.
This week, stay connected and be ready. Faith grows best before it's needed. Thank Him before practice. Whisper a prayer between classes. Ask for wisdom before responding. Every pause becomes another opportunity to strengthen trust over fear. Learn to live connected. That's God's rhythm of rest—living connected to the One who never leaves you.
Go:
Are you connected to Jesus?
What rest rhythm could help you stay close to Jesus — Scripture, prayer, praise, gratitude, or something else? Why?

Overtime:
“My God and my Coach, in your rest, help me to stay close, be ready and walk in step with You. Let me see each pause as an opportunity to strengthen trust over fear. Amen.”
